Sunday, January 31st, 2010
[ English ]

At first glance, poker seems to be a simple game like monopoly, scrabble, or computer games. When you really go deep into poker, you realize that it’s more than simply a game. Poker is a game of demoralization and only the strong will prevail. After you get the basic structure down for your game, controlling your feelings is the most important part in playing great poker. Anybody can learn the odds, starting hand requirements, and how to react in multiple hand situations. Only a small % of the poker playing population can hold their feelings when things are going bad. Gambling well after losing large pots is the thing that separates excellent players from average ones. Think about all the things you attempt in life that follows a familiar pattern. When you’re in a bad mood, you have trouble concentrating on everyday events. When you’re pissed, you have trouble thinking straight. As human beings, we are very emotional when it comes to life. Poker is a game that takes us through the various range of feelings. We have the highest highs after winning a big pot. We have the lowest lows when we lose a big pot.

Emotional control is an ability that can be mastered by any person. In any given sport, or game, emotional control is the ‘item’ that makes great players. Just like anything in the world, it takes a lot of discipline and experience to manage your emotions at the poker table.

Compete in Holdem

In holdem, the initial step is to get the game started, and for this the players put out a specific total of money. ‘Posting the blinds’ is the commonly used term for this play. In the next step, the croupier shuffles the cards and deals 2 cards face down to all players. A normal deck of fifty two playing cards is used. Then there is the first round of wagering. This round is typically referred to as a "pre-flop".

Following the first betting sequence, the first card of the deck is thrown away. This thrown away card is known as the "burn card", and this is done to guarantee that there is absolutely no dishonestly. The following three cards are then revealed face up on the table. These cards are ‘the flop’. Now follows a 2nd sequence of betting, after which the croupier throws away an additional card and flips one more card onto the poker table. Following this, players can utilize the 6th card to create a five-card poker hand.

A further sequence of wagering happens, and in many types of games, here is where the bet size doubles. There is a further round of throwing away a card, and a closing placing of a card face-up on the poker table. This is called the "river". Bettors can now use any of the five cards on the board, and/or the two cards that they hold, to assemble a five-card poker hand.

To finish it up there’s another round of wagering. After that, all the players remaining begin to show their hands. This is referred to as the "showdown". Obviously, the bettor who shows the highest hand wins. When competitors have equal hands a sharing of the winnings is used.

Holdem is a simple game to understand, but to acquire expertise one needs a tonne of practice.

Poker Aces – learning to wager them

[ English | Deutsch | Español | Français | Italiano ]

Poker Aces refers to two aces being dealt pre-flop. It is the strongest attainable before theflop hand inholdem Poker. But despite this a large number of gamblers find themselves on the wrong end when given these cards.

When you’re given a pair of Aces, you just don’t fold before theflop. You’re sitting with the best possible hand at this stage of the game. So how do you bet with Poker Aces ? Do you simply go all-in? I’d say absolutely no to that.

Remember, you are attempting to generate as much profit out of this strong position. You need to maximise the possibility. Going all-in will actually scare most individuals into dropping out without laying a bet.

If you are in the initial spot (first or second to place a wager), you will place a single wager. Anyone with good cards will call, with hope somebody might raise. If there has been a raise do not jump to re-raise or call, wait for a short while – make them think you’re considering your options and then call.

After the flop your strategy will be to eliminate anybody that might get a straight or a flush. So I would begin to raise aggressively, if you’re lucky you will trick one player into thinking that you are faking it.

If you’re in the middle or later spot (one of the last to cast a bet) you’ll watch as every player calls and then raise. Even though you are sitting with a pair of aces, if possible try to avoid a show-down. Guard your hand by making the other players drop out after the flop. If you do not force out your adversaries you chance squandering your hand.

Texas Holdem Limit Poker

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Limit hold’em Poker is the most popular variation of holdem poker, attracting many amateur poker players. The reason it is so popular is because the wagering is not overly aggressive. The stakes are not big due to the fact that the betting is confined, you can simply compete with little or no money.

If you are wagering at a 50c/$1 Limit Texas Holdem Poker table, the wagering will be restricted to increments of 50 cents during the pre-flop and flop, and one dollar on the Turn and River rounds.

In Limit poker rooms the best poker hand as a rule wins, due to the fact that players are more likely to stay in the hand and cause a showdown. If you were competing in a No Limit Poker Room gamblers are most likely to fold prior to the turn or river, than risk squandering a large piece of their stack.

Bluffing in Limit rounds is not very typical, because it’s not too costly for your opposition to call if she thinks that you are trying to trick them.

If you’re wagering at a low-limit game and you are dealt a powerful hand you will need to attempt to keep as many players in the game as you can. Attempt checking if you’re one of the initial to lay a wager, this should fool most players into thinking your cards are poor.

The key is to lure as many bets out of your competitors without exposing that you are in a powerful spot.

In low-limit poker rounds you should keep a lookout for pre-flop hands that are no less than nines or higher pair, or two high rank unpaired cards.
