Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
