The value of Poker Position

Saturday, January 14th, 2017

Hold’em is all about players and seating. All knowledgeable Texas Hold’em enthusiasts agree that position in no limit Hold’em is critically significant. Playing your hole cards in last position could be much more beneficial than in early poker spot. This is because much more data is gathered prior to acting.

e.g., I played in a $1-$2 no limit money game at a local poker room. I limped in with 2, 9 unsuited on the croupier button, just to see some fun. Flop came down A-A-4. A gambler in early position placed a fifteen dollar bet. 2 entrants fold and it was now my turn. I really should have dropped out, but something seemed a tiny bit off. I read this guy as a weak-tight person, and typically if he held the best hand he would just check, so I called.

The turn showed with a 7, making it A-A-4-7. My opposer placed a further bet of $20. I deliberated for a while, but made a decision to re-raise another $30thirty dollars over and above his twenty dollars. He dropped out and I won the chips.

Wagering at last spot offers you an insight into where you are positioned by seeing how players carry oneself and wager. On the flip side, individuals at starting position can use their poker position to check-raise the late seated antagonists and trap them later at the end. In Texas Hold’em, each ends, late and starting should be wagered cautiously.
