Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
