Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
