Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
