Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
