Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about the game. He would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse feedback from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
He started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
