Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative comments from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
