Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Even though Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
