Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn everything he could about poker. He would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse comments from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
