Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
