Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always strives to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
